The community is the great motivation for Fair Feast. Across Scotland food insecurity is growing as people struggle with the cost-of-living crisis. Even in small rural places, with no history of food banks, food insecurity is now prevalent. In our research speaking to food bank managers we found that many rural communities feel left behind with much of the large organised help distributed to cities. Distributing in the rural sphere is difficult as each food bank is independent with different ways of operating and capacity. We feel Fair Feast is succeeding as we have engaged with the community at an early stage and listened to constant feedback as we design our structure.

To ensure constant input, Jackie Mahoney from Bluedoor Foodbank in Auchterarder, has become a founding member of our board. Jackie has given us great insight to what food bank recipients need and we carry that forward with us.
